Raleigh Named 2026’s No. 2 Best State Capital to Live In
Raleigh has been ranked the second-best state capital to live in nationwide in WalletHub’s 2026 Best State Capitals report, earning top marks for its balance of affordability, economic opportunity, quality of education & health, and overall quality of life. According to the study, Raleigh’s strong income levels adjusted for cost of living, vibrant job market, robust educational attainment, and expanding amenities helped it rise near the top of the list, just behind Austin, Texas. WalletHub’s analysis shows that Raleigh continues to attract residents with its combination of relatively affordable housing, growing economy, and quality services such as healthcare and schools.
